5 Realistic Goals to Set For Yourself
1. Live in the now
We’ve been in this pandemic for over a year now, that’s a lot of socially distancing if you ask me. But more importantly time spend realising the value of spending precious time with family and friends. This year has taught me to really appreciate and be aware of what I have now and live more in the present. Who knows when this will end, but what is certain is that life is for living, so live!
2. Relax! It’s ok do not ‘do anything’
Whilst it’s perfectly ok to seek as many resources (like SASA) or advice on how to be productive as you feel fit, I do recognise that it’s also ok not to be doing anything fancy and that taking time to wrap our heads around the drastic changes is also a task in itself. So, it’s ok to sleep in, it’s ok to be sad and its ok to just sit around in your PJ’s with a bowl of ice cream.
3. Drink lemon water
Ok hear me out… Each morning, put a slice of lemon into a glass of warm water and sip it just like you would your daily cup of tea or coffee. Not only will it provide you with an extra boost of Vitamin C, but it will also give you that special bit of energy plus it’s a natural way to detox!
4. Get up and move
You don’t have to spend an hour and a half every single day at the gym. Just get up and move. Take a walk (with your mask!), or a bike ride, or maybe do some pushups while you’re watching TV. Just do something physical and you will instantly feel better. Scientifically exercise is a scientifically proven mood booster, decreasing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
5. Take some time out for yourself
How many nights do you fall into bed exhausted because you’ve been filling up everyone else’s cup and now your own is totally empty? Find some time each and every day, even just five minutes, to take some deep breaths, maybe make a list of the things you’d like to do that day, and then do them! Now, more than ever we need to make ourselves a priority and that includes a bit of TLC.
